I’ve been spending the weekend relaxing. Sorta. More Relaxing and debugging. Anyway, the name of this space thingy is Dwarf Star. I like it. I’m not changing it. Don’t try to convince me. Phyta got featured over at TIGSource so that’s cool. I think I might put some more work into an improved version of that when I get the time. Kinda like the PS3 version of fl0w versus the free version. Only mine will be free, because I hate making money…

So, moving on, today I’m setting up the Dwarf Star profile thingy. Check it out when its up.

Wrote this cause I wanted to take a break. From writing code. So I wrote code to get away from writing code. Something’s wrong with me. It plots trajectories of particles shot out in all directions in a gravitational system. Not much more to say about it. Check it out if you are so inclined.

I came into this project with really no prior knowledge of how to make adequate buildings in vector art. I think I’ve gotten better at it but the downside of this is that I’m going to have to go back over the first things I did to make the style consistent. Here’s another picture because I like pictures.

I’m thinking the tractor beam is going to have some kind of wavy line effect (not necessarily like this). I’m also thinking there will be a tractor beam. It’s so much easier than the whole harpoon thing because it means my physics engine can stay rudimentary. Anyway, compulsory picture:

It was a little tricky getting the whole glowy curvy line thing to work because I have no idea how to get a glow shader to work with this but through the magic of .png tiling it’s okay.

I can get back to work. The visual feel of this game is turning out to be kinda kooky. That’s okay because I want to make something that’s fun instead of just artsy. I’m going to be working on this nonstop for a few days because I keep getting new ideas for projects and if I start something else now, I’ll never finish this.

Finals are this week so I’ll probably be getting less work done and getting fewer updates up than usual. However, after those I have endless amounts of free time. I intend to use it well.
